Holiday Cottages

Warenford is a small village, situated 4 miles inland from the wonderful Bamburgh coastline. The cottages are perfectly situated for touring the coast, the North Northumberland countryside, the Scottish Borders and their many villages, castles, houses and garden. The group of five cottages have been tastefully developed from stone built farm buildings into attractive and comfortable accommodation in the centre of the village.

Indoor Swimming Pool/Sauna & Tennis Court are next to cottages for guests use.

Shortbreaks are available off season and cottages are open all year round.

Ferguson Cottage, visitor book - 6.7.06 – M Bidgood, F Holiday – Hove, Sussex.
Advertised as a country cottage – this is more like a country castle – or say a moated grange with a stream for a border – with its solid stone walls, feet thick, and little windows with swallows nest tucked in their lintels.
This was a time to savour the spirit of place – going out in the drifting haar to the Farne Islands – seeing them looming in our out of our sight like restless ghosts and the Longstone lighthouse sounding its sad note of warning through the mist – and its legendary light flashing through the fog. Then there was going west to the sunshine, past the green-gold fields to the hills where the roads ran out and the heather flashed its wild purple – a world of sheep and mountain-pasture with dark green thickets of bracken and the music of rivers. There was a hostelry too – the “Rose & Thistle” – round a bend in the road on the way back from beyond – there was a garden of valeriana and old roses and dry stone walls warming in the ancient sunshine – as near to heaven as any man can find.
